Laughter is evolution. Yes yes yes, as Neanderthals and even as primordial ooze our only two responses to danger were fight or flight!! In other words if we were attacked our bodies would fill with adrenalin at that moment we would have two choices fight or flight. Kill or run!! Sounds pretty barbaric when you look at it. Now the reason we acted like that is because we believed our life was threatened, we didn’t know what we were other than a conscious being peering into the eyes of an enemy that was just about to devour us, so we either stuck up our dukes, or ran like a startled Gazelle. Not much has changed. Even today it seams we are not that far removed from our barbaric ancestors when it comes to alternate reactions to confronting situations. However something is changing, and that something is laughter, yes flight , fight, or laugh. There’s a new kid on the block, and that new kid, doesn’t take this world seriously. And when something is not taken seriously, it cannot intimidate. And if it cannot intimidate it cannot control, and if it cannot control, it looses it’s power. Once something that has used fear as it’s motivational force is suddenly exposed for what it is- barbaric, then it becomes funny, yes even laughable. So to laugh in the face of danger is to evolve.
